Unique info session to highlight government supports for cultural businesses
Entrepreneurs of Indigenous, African and Caribbean descent are invited to attend the Alberta Jobs Plan Town Hall for Cultural Businesses on Wednesday, October 12 from 4-6 pm.
Hosted and organized by MLA David Shepherd, Edmonton-Centre, this town hall is designed to support the growth of small- and medium-sized Indigenous, African and Caribbean businesses.
“The idea for this really came directly from the African business community in Edmonton”, says MLA Shepherd. “They told me they hadn’t felt consulted or included by previous governments and expressed the need to access supports for entrepreneurs in their communities. They want to share in and contribute to the amazing opportunities our province has to offer. This town hall is a first step to help them achieve that.”
Topics under discussion at the town hall include the Alberta Investor Tax Credit, the Alberta Capital Investment Tax Credit and Community Economic Development Funds. The Honourable Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade will be a special guest at the event.
