Happy Pride Month!

One of the reasons I ran to be an MLA was because of my belief that governments and those elected to them have the responsibility to stand up with and for the marginalized in our society.

That's why in every year since our election, I've been proud to march with Premier Rachel Notley and my caucus colleagues in Edmonton's annual Pride Parade.

Government in our province has a not-so-distant history of open discrimination against LGBTQ2+ Albertans and it's clear from a quick pe...rusal of recent news that homophobic views remain prevalent and sadly even encouraged in some communities.

That's why I firmly believe it's essential for political and community leaders to visibly and vocally support and recognize Albertans in our province's LGBTQ2+ communities. They're our friends, co-workers, neighbours and fellow citizens and make an invaluable contribution to the diversity of culture that makes Alberta great.

We are strongest when we stand together. Happy Pride!
